Outline!
Innovation: The invention of first gasoline powered automobile by Jean Lenoir. In my opinion, this is a disruptive innovation as it changed the way how cargo is being transported now and how passengers are travelling now.
Rationale for selecting this Innovation: Without this innovation we would be unable to travel from one place to another cheaply and quickly. The invention of gasoline engine led Wright Brothers to power the first flight.
Proposed approach to development of paper
Executive summary: In this report I will be focusing on the change from steam engines to gasoline powered engines to alternative energy powered engines.
Background/ Introduction: Here I would be focusing on why the invention of gasoline powered engines is a disruptive innovation.
Historical Perspective: In this section I would focus on the steam powered engines and electric automobiles which were invented before the invention of gasoline powered automobiles.
Current situation: This section would be about how invention of gasoline powered engines has benefitted the world in terms of being used for personal transport, cargo transport, flight travel and sea travel. I would also be discussing why this invention is more widely used than steam powered engines and electric engines (of the past)
Future situation: In this section, I will speculate on the changes that will come in future with the usage of engines that make use of alternative energies. These include electric automobiles, hybrid vehicles, hydrogen-fueled cell vehicles which are already in testing process. I will also analyze the newest technology of using air to run our vehicles. All these new technologies have been used mostly for automobiles. Hence, I will also analyze the usage of such energies for sea and air travel.

I do suggest for you to focus your paper more on what you outlined in your future situation. Recall the focus of your paper should be on a revolutionary (or disruptive) innovation that is essentially a "game-changer" rather than on evolutionary (or incremental) innovations.

hi there, since your paper is on car engine, stating how the engine can be used on planes and ships is a lil bit out of topic , imo. perhaps you can see how such engines can be implemented on a global scale by all car manufacturers to be the new gold standard of car engines, and how such a global shift in production can produce savings in fuel, as well as the possible difficulties faced in doing so.

I agree with Desmond as your topic is on "first gasoline powered automobile" probably if you want to talk more about energy and how steam engines changes to gasoline powered engines to alternative energy powered engines. Probably you can change the topic focus ? probably to future technologies on energy ? If you are still going this topic maybe you could compare Diesel engine with Gasoline as these are so far the two most commonly used engine in the recent years. Compared to steam engine which is more of a past. And you can also talk about the difference and why most car are still gasoline and not diesel. Why the preference over a certain fuel ? and If you want can add in Otto cycle and diesel cycle.

In reference to Kar-men's comment, I think it's important to highlight very clearly the impacts of the changes from steam power to gasoline to future alternative sources of energy.
Although the technology behind a steam and a combustion engine is completely different, it does not automatically make it a revolutionary innovation. If it just makes transportation faster and slightly more efficient, it can be viewed as merely evolutionary. You'll have to convince us otherwise in your paper with the direct and indirect impacts of these new innovations.

So i think i'm going to stick with this topic as of now and umm will be focusing most of my project to future too as i believe it will most definitely be a disruptive innovation...yet imo i think gasoline powered was also a kinda disruptive innovation in automobile as without it life could be quite miserable (for me at least) for now! thanks so much for the feedback!
